Hi all,

Anybody know where to get a RX7 1st Gen heater control valve? The part number for the LHD item is 8871-76-409
The Australian one looks like the below. This is a UK second hand RHD item which would suit, but I'd prefer a new one

We have the same problem with 808 rx3s. I looked through lots of after market ones but no solution. I used an old one which kike you say is far from ideal..... looked into new seals not really possible. People would want an assembly anyway.

Ill be interesting to see what people do.

I put a new seal in mine, but of all the ones I've seen, the shafts are all stuffed and corroded so a new seal won't do much in most cases. That is if you can even get it back together after disassembly due to the nature of how they're manufactured.

I'd also be very interested to hear if there is a more suitable solution.

Have you absolutely confirmed that the RHD part is no longer available?

I have found that often the LHD part number is gone but the RHD part is still around, or at least still available as buy on demand from Japan. It is a pain to get the right part number as local dealers don't have access to 1st gen part numbers on site. A few years ago, all the parts fiches from 1986 on were moved to an electronic database, but to get pre-1986 part numbers, you need to go to Mazda Australia who are the only ones with the right microfiche. It takes a bit of effort but you can get there with persistance and politeness.

Not exactly.....
Today I put a call into my local Mazda dealer, the US part number would not register a hit on whatever system Mazda Australia search on. I left my number for a call back which I am waiting for, so I'm guessing that it might be taking some digging.

Atkins rotary still sell the LHD part http://atkinsrotary.com/store/79-85-Rx7 ... 6-409.html

I've ordered one through Grand Prix Mazda, about $100 including shipping, Aussie part number is 8562-76409.

Ex Japan, 3 week delivery

\:D/ well done mate. Worth it for the hassle you'll save (and probably not much more than second hand)

Had a look at installing the valve yesterday. Failed. There is a phillips screw holding the clamp together shown in the picture. It's been done up for 35 years, I can barely get a screwdriver on it and applying any real torque just wasn't happening.

I've gone and bought a specialist tool and will have another go when it arrives
