I have a Series 3 RX-7 that I purchased recently. I've managed to buy (through ebay, mainly) a Mazda brochure for the S3, a Mazda workshop manual (with S3 supplement), a Haynes manual, a Mazda wiring manual and a Mazda Pre-Delivery and Scheduled Maintenance manual.

Nowhere in my surfing or swap meet hunting have I seen a colour brochure/leaflet for the Series 3 RX-7. Or any first gen, for that matter.

Did Mazda produce them? What colours (with codes, if known) did Mazda manufacture the first gen series in? Yes, I've searched!!

I've googled my paint code. My car is Sunrise Red, code RH.

I'd really like to know what other colours were sold. Did Mazda produce a yellow for the first year? (That seems to be a conventional thing for them to do).

Thanks in advance,

Gomez.

Anyone?

Did Mazda Australia issue a colour brochure/leaflet for any of the first gen RX-7's?

Dealers were supplied with colour cards not charts.I doubt an RX7 came in impulse Blue as it is a 1977 colour

So, were colour cards handed out to buyers? Anyone post a pic of one? The chart above is a USA colour chart, Impulse Blue may have been a first gen colour over there.

Please post the year, colour name and code of your Australian delivered first gen RX-7. I'd like to see this built up as a database for future reference.

Cheers.

Archetype, PPG and Spies Hecker list W1 Mazda (1984-1988) paint as "Opal Green".

Are you sure you got that code right??

Yep, it looks silver in photos, but it's actually a very light metallic green. I'll attempt to take a photo which shows it's true colour when I get a spare monent.

Thanks for finding out about the paint code name too! :)

Thanks. It is very tidy, but photos can hide a lot too.
