After thinking about all different possibilities for colour, I am beginning to think I'll stock with the factory colour, maybe with a bit of a pearl in it, and simply remove the rubber strips and colour code the black bits (mirrors, bumper strips etc).

It's a great colour by mid-80s' standards.

Id leave the rubber strips, colour code them as well as everything else on the car including your chrome strips around the windows.

KYPREO, stock colour for sure. Except I would leave it all as Mazda intended including removing the wing. If you are going to colour code I reckon it looks better with strips. Looks like it's missing something without them I reckon... But I am beginning to like stock 1st Gens more and more each day. Just a set of tasteful rims if you want to (like you have).

Yes Daniel, that S1 is fucking fresh. Basically the definitive 'RX7' in my opinion. Go the tartan interior shit.

well apart from establishing my car was all black from factory, it would have had the maroney interior,... does that sound right???

with a bit of help from one of my mates now have all black carpet and they grey series 3 seats so looks a lot better even if I still have a few moroney trims still needing to be painted...

Hey guys sorry to bump this thread back up.

But does anybody happen to know or have information about which colours were used most and which were used the least on series 3's ONLY?

Like i have stated before im respraying my RX7 in a standard colour, But i want it to be a uncommon colour.

I love the grey but it seems to be used alot.

Question.

Does anybody know if australia recieved any special exterior or interior colours?

Or maybe just some colours that japan DID NOT recieved.

I throwing around a few ideas of restoring my rx7, I was going to go JDM spec, But i think an aussie spec rx7 would be a better idea.

Does anybody know if sydney blue was used in the jap market?

is this your car?

I have a Series 3 RX-7 that I purchased recently. I've managed to buy (through ebay, mainly) a Mazda brochure for the S3, a Mazda workshop manual (with S3 supplement), a Haynes manual, a Mazda wiring manual and a Mazda Pre-Delivery and Scheduled Maintenance manual.

Nowhere in my surfing or swap meet hunting have I seen a colour brochure/leaflet for the Series 3 RX-7. Or any first gen, for that matter.

Did Mazda produce them? What colours (with codes, if known) did Mazda manufacture the first gen series in? Yes, I've searched!!

I've googled my paint code. My car is Sunrise Red, code RH.

I'd really like to know what other colours were sold. Did Mazda produce a yellow for the first year? (That seems to be a conventional thing for them to do).

Thanks in advance,

Gomez.

No.

This is my car. And before you ask, when I sell it I'll advertise it as a 2001 FD RX-7 RZ.

Thanks for asking though.
