No vented bonnets on US spec SII RX2's?

Waiting excitedly for Dazz's response. :D

WTF is a Series II RX-2, I always get confused when people refer to things that don't exist

The early Yank spec RX-2's got the twin round lights as well due to their design rules, and no rear finishers ugly big separate reverse lights and rubber baby buggy bumper over riders, reflectors like we had on the rear quarter panels and not small blinkers on the front guards and other oddities that really spoil the look of them.

Geez, what an awesome thread! I've been on here less than a week and I find this gold. The pics early on in the thread from Small Car Sunday held at western Sydney's Valentine Sports complex took me right back to the early days of my driving career.

June 1973 is OK with bonnets like that.
There are five different part numbers for USA and Canada spec cars bonnets:
2835 52 110
2835 74 600 from June 1971 with the indication interchangeable
0881 74 600 from Feb. 1973, with the indication interchangeable
1650 52 110A for 1972 and 1973 models
which was replaced by 0881 74 600 from Feb. 1973, with the indication interchangeable

All single dizzy LHD cars (i.e. from Sweden to Lebanon), of which the production started in Oct. 1973 had
0881 74 600

All cars (outside US and I suppose AUS) had the bonnet 0839 52 110 up until:
(from) Dec. 1970 the RHD cars had 0305 52 110, with the indication interchangeable
(from) Nov. 1970 the LHD cars 2835 52 110, with the indication NOT interchangeable.
This is accurate up to June 1971 as my parts book is not further updated.

0839- and 0305- indicate initial models, so these must be "s1" ones.
0881 indicates a 71 on model, it should be a "fake"/"s2" one.
2835- indicates also an initial model for France, I am not that sure, but most chances to be "s1".

So, it seems that from Feb. 1973 at least US and Canadian cars had the fake vents bonnet

I've made a comprehensive list of changes in the early Aus spec RX-2 range here (about half way down page):

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=233086&hilit=bonnet+apron+headlights&start=20

Best to keep all this in an RX-2 specific thread and not clog this one up with proving there is no Series in the RX-2 range, even though that's the reality of it all ](*,)

Wendy Markey drove both cars (or same car in different colours?) but looks like the black car had the Penthouse sponsorship only.

White car has slightly different sponsorship to photo behind black B Series so maybe same car different time again?

The late Leon Prgomet's RX-2 Coupe rally car, as then part of the Old Man Emu Off Road Racing Team, circa 1977.

Richies in Mount Eliza, Victoria, recently had a bit of an overhaul. This picture is up outside the shop:

I'm guessing this would be circa early 1980s.
